Exodus 1
Israel were fruitful
The Egyptians were afraid
Baby boys were killed
I find Exodus to be one of the more unusual books of the bible, mainly because it’s more “usual” than many of the others. The prophets, the epistles, they have certain qualities to each of them, but Exodus is more like a narrative and it’s fairly easy to read. However, it’s not just any narrative; in it we learn a huge amount about who God is, how he works, and his relationship with his people as well as the world.
In chapter 1 we find that God has been faithful to one of his promises to Abraham: they have grown to be a large people. However the promise of blessings and land are yet to be fulfilled and at the moment they are in slavery.
